The Use Of Technology Enhanced Language Learning In The 21st Century In A Vocational High School
In this 21st century, technology plays a critical role in our lives. Every activity we
engage in our daily lives, for the most part, involves the use of technology. The using
of online application is needed when learn language especially English in the learning
process. Teachers use applications to teach their students English. In this day and age,
students are expected to be more than just communicative; they are also expected to be
more creative, have good critical thinking skills, and be able to collaborate with others.
That phenomenon has a various perceptions from teachers and students both positively
and negatively. This research aims to investigate the use of TELL in application for
learning English in the 21st century and the difficulties of teacher and students in using
applications in English learning at Buana Bahari Marine Vocantional High School.
This research used qualitative research using descriptive qualitative. The data collected
by using interview and documentation. The results showed that: 4C skill applied in
learning English through application based on categorization of the online application.
The applications those are often used for media learning English language are
WhatsApp, Google Classroom, and YouTube. The teacher and students face the
difficulty in the use application such as: the limitations of the materials that can be
delivered by teachers, students are working on tasks independently is not with the
group, students do not understand the material, poor internet connection, students
uncomfortable use application for learning, and students are late in collecting the
duties.
