The Effectiveness Of Using Writing In The Here And Now Strategy Toward Students’ Writing Skill At First Grade Of SMK Al-Hidayah Kota Cirebon
The background of this study was based on the students; difficulties in
comprehending writing recount text. Some of the reasons were the method of the
English teaching process was not interesting. The research aimed to improve
students‟ ability in writing skill for the first grade of SMK Al-Hidayah Kota
Cirebon.
The type of this research used experimental method with pre-test,
treatment, and post-test design. The research findings indicated that using „writing
in the here and now‟ strategy as one of the strategies to help students‟ writing
competences. This strategy can improve the ability of tenth grade students‟ at
SMK Al-Hidayah Kota Cirebon in the academic year 2018/2019.
This research aimed to respond the following question. The first question
is, how is students‟ writing skill before using „writing in the here and now‟
strategy?. The second question is, how is students‟ writing sikill after using
„writing in the here and now‟ strategy. The third question is, is there any
significant effect of using „writing in the here and now‟ strategy?.
The finding shows that before using this strategy, the score of this students
is lower than KKM (Kriteria Ketuntasan Minimum) or the minimal mastery level
criteria. It shows from the result of pre-test that the students‟ only got 70% in
category enough with rate score 55-69. Then, answer fron the second question, the
researcher got the score result in post-test section after treatement with the
strategy. The students‟ got 53.3% in category Good with rate score 70-80. The last
is the third question, is about the significant effect of the strategy. From the data,
the researcher concluded that, there is any significant effect of used „writing in the
here and now‟ strategy. It shows from the result of students‟ score in post-test
from the experimental class.
