Exploring of Peer Collaboration on Students’ Report Text at Tenth Grade of SMA Negeri 4 Cirebon
This research aims to explore the types of feedback which is provided by
the students to their peers‟ writing, how the students‟ writing ability by using peer
collaboration on students‟ report text and how the students‟ perception toward
Peer Collaboration. When teacher provided Peer Collaboration to students, they
give feedback to their peer‟s writing and the students perceive as useful and
effective feedback for them. Peer Collaboration has a various perceptions from
students both positively and negatively.
The method of this research is using qualitative research which has a
purpose to explore the Peer Collaboration on students‟ report text in SMA Negeri
4 Cirebon. 3 students and one teacher are involved to gain the data. The
instruments used in collecting data were document study, observation, and
interview which is adapted by Creswell (2012).
The findings showed that the dominant type which the students used are
praise and suggestion whereas criticism was rarely used by the students. Using
peer collaboration on students‟ report text has significant effect on the increasing
students‟ abilities in writing. The students‟ perception toward Peer Collaboration
in writing generally which has positive perceptions to write their next writing
better than before.
In conclusion, most of EFL students understand types of peer feedback in
writing. Moreover they feel helped when their peers are able to give feedback on
whole their writing. Therefore they may correct their writing time to time.
