The Relevance of Bahasa Inggris Textbook With 21stCentury Skills
Learning English in the 21stcentury is very important because
English is a language that is commonly used throughout the world. This
research aims to know how to implemented 4C skills with reading tasksand
to ensure the relevance of textbook Bahasa Inggris tenth gradewith 4C
skills. The method of this research is qualitative using document analysis as
a technique of collecting data and the data will be collected from forwarding
onTextbook Bahasa Inggris 2013 tenth grade published by Ministry
Education and Culture which is a student textbook for almost all senior high
school.Researcher choose content analysis because they can find out the
content or statement directly from the reading task.The finding of the first
question isto analyze data with checklist instrumentto show the existence of
4C on it, and for the second research,the question is percentages of
represented of 4C skills that appeared in reading tasks of two-semesters of
this textbooks to show the relevance of it.The indicator of checklist are :
Poor(0-25%), Sufficient(26-50%), Fair(51-75%) and Good(76-100%). The
result of this study two semester textbooks published by the Ministry of
Education and Culture have fair and good category, Creativity It’s
evidence with a (Good) percentage with result 76% in the 1st semester and
81% in the 2nd semester. Critical Thinkingin 1st semester it has a
percentage result of 75% (Fair), while in 2nd semester it has a percentage
result of 76% (Good)Collaboration in the 1stsemester has result 66%(Fair)
while in the 2ndsemester has result 65%(Fair). Communication 1
stsemester
has reach 79%(Good) while in the 2ndsemester has reach 82%(Good).So,
both books have the skills to deal with this era of globalization
